Britain basked in a mini heatwave

Warmest April day recorded

Since 1949, some adored it

While others bet May’ll mostly be rain.

No sooner I start I’ll be stopped.

Yet I’ll pick up my pen

Scrawl a verse now and then

Might to some seem incredibly strange

But why waste your life

Tied to trouble and strife

Cherish play in your every decade.

Yet somehow still going nowhere

I wonder quite how

While stuck here where by now

Damp with drizzle and haze
